Ladies and Gents.
We have been approached by the organisers of the Top Gear Live show at City West if ,as a club , we would be interested in arranging a static display of up to 12 cars. In addition, in conjunction with the management of the Mondello race circuit, a race track is to be constructed at City West for the duration of the show. The idea is that relay teams of up to 4 cars will compete in time trials against other teams from across the country. Please note this is a 3 day event.
If anyone is interested in setting up a relay team or would like their cars to be on display then please confirm below. I will add additional details in due course.

It has been a few years since we've done any TV promotions but this sounds like just the event for maximum exposure!

Good man Peter...keep us informed. :wink:

That's brilliant news! Amazing exposure, and for FREE! Guys, sweep this up!

And hey, if anyone needs their arm twisted to go, it means a free ticket for the three days. They aren't exactly gonna ask a display team to pay for tickets.

Just wish I had a car now. What an opportunity, and days after my birthday.

Hi All, update from Top Gear Live;

From the entries received 10 relay teams will be created by the organisers of Top Gear Festival 2010 and will consist of the best of Irish Motorsport, including:

Top Rally Cars and Rallycross Vehicles
Single Seater Racing & Hill-Climb Cars
Saloon & Sports Racing Cars
Time Attack Cars

Each individual team will be made up of 4 cars and will be the equivalent in bhp/weight ratio to their competition, ensuring a fair and competitive race. Any model, spec and design of competition car is eligible to enter.

All entrants must download the official regulations & complete the official entry form, both of which are available HERE. There is no entry fee and all entries must be sent to:

The Competition Secretary, Top Gear Festival 2010, Mondello Park, Donore, Naas, Co. Kildare.

The closing date for entries is 31st July and entrants will be advised thereafter whether or not their application has been successful.

This is a tremendous opportunity for competitors to have a great weekend and gain valuable exposure for your sponsors in front of 45,000 plus visitors. All cars entered will receive four festival tickets, four weekend paddock passes and discounted (25% off) Top Gear Live Theatre Show 2010 tickets.

* * * *

So, its down to ye guys now! Below is a link to the entry form that you must fill out, etc etc, says it all there anyway!

With the latest news that Citywest is going into receivership...will this put a stop to events? As far as I know, the Conference Centre is one of the properties included!

Jeep going with it unless otherwise told. The show will definitely go ahead, could possibly be an alternate location though. They were in RDS twice before.....

So whats the deal here? We need to make a team and slide an entry form in?
Why dont we submit a couple of teams then? Do we have enough?

I'm proposing a 7's style team. Hands up for that. Me!

As written above Damo...10 relay teams with 4 cars per team. I think the teams are worked out by the organisers. They give each car an overall bhp/weight figure and divide the cars up into teams of equal standards. That way you don't have one team full of high performance racers against other road going novices. That means from all the racing car entries they will only choose 40 cars from across the Irish Motosport range.

If you read the link posted above to the mondello website you'll get more info. :P Plus you'll see in the first few lines that all Competitors are required to be there on Thursday for rehearsals aswell as the 3 days of the show!!!

As for a Club static display, as per Peters first post we are limited to 12 cars on the stand...and that will just be the 3 days! :wink:

Will a halfords special in a bracket do the job?

any car entering the circuit racing does not have to be fitted with a role cage, but will require a fire extinguisher.

Very little.
As you can see from the forum, there appears to be very little interest in the static display. Like the circuit racing, the cars would need to be on site for the 4 days. Arriving the day before to set up.
I WOULD REQUEST THAT ALL PARTIES INTERESTED IN DISPLAYING CARS SHOULD CONFIRM BY THE 14TH AUGUST.
