Sunday 12th June 2011, there is a Festival of Speed on in Newtownards Airfield, Northern Ireland.
The website dedicated to the show is
http://www.ardsfestivalofspeed.com/
The show is on from 10am to 6pm.
Being part of the organisation (This is Chris Summers), I voiced the option of bringing up some IKCC cars.
Any cars that are interested in competing in the drag racing (quarter mile), can do so by entering online on the above website, cost of £50. They aim to give cars approx 7 runs between 11am-2pm, but cars will have to be onsite much earlier, i.e. for 9am. The drags will take place on a closed runway here at the airfield, and the competitors will be against the clock, but also against another competitor (same as santa pod operation). The top cars in each class will win trophies. And pride.
Classic & Show Cars are invited to the static display (there is also a show and shine competition), and the deal Is that the driver of said vehicles gain entry to the show free of charge. Passengers will have to pay regular admission fee.
The rest of the details of the show are on their website, but should you have any queries, feel free to post them here.
Let us know if anyone intends to make an appearance up there with your show car as I need to book it in. (I have been informed to say show cars such as Cobra Replicas, Moggie Minor, P4, rare types etc are acceptable, and not the likes of 7’s, as the Ulster Kit Car Club apparently already have plenty lined up!)
Check out the website and see what ye think. We will be flying here all day, and there is an air display on at 3pm also. Timo Glocks old F3 car will be at the event, and Jack Frost is also going to attempt to break an Irish land speed record on with holeshot racing on his turboed hayabusa racebike, plenty more on the day, stalls etc, so let us know what you all think!
Cheers,
Chris Summers
